Robusta
Coffea canephora or robusta is the most cultivated in Africa, Brazil and Asia. This type of coffee grows best at lower and warmer areas than the arabica. It is cheaper than arabica because the strong taste is not always appreciated by everyone. Robusta is therefore mainly used in blends and soluble coffee and instant coffee.
The robusta is stronger and more resistant to diseases and pests, and has a higher yield than arabica plants. Robusta accounts for less than 30% of world production. Green robusta beans are rounder and smaller but heavier than arabica beans and have a brownish green color.
